No Insurance? No Problem

Care that doesn't stop when your insurance does

Most dental insurance caps out at $1,000–$1,500 a year — a limit that hasn't budged since the 1970s. Our Membership Plan has no annual maximum, so your family's care is never capped by a spreadsheet.

The Real Difference

No insurance vs. our Membership Plan

Insurance was designed to limit what an insurer pays out — not to maximize your care. Here's what that actually looks like side by side.

Typical Dental Insurance
Going without a plan
$1,000–$1,500
Typical annual maximum — unchanged since the 1970s
  • Coverage stops once you hit your annual maximum — you pay 100% of anything more
  • Premiums due every month, whether you use care or not
  • Waiting periods before major procedures are covered
  • Networks and pre-authorizations can limit which treatment you get
  • No employer plan? Individual dental insurance often runs $20–$50+ a month

  • 1 emergency exam a year included, right here at Potomac Woods
Starting at $449/yr for adults — less than most monthly premiums

Industry sources including the American Dental Association and Delta Dental confirm that most dental insurance plans cap annual benefits between $1,000 and $1,500 — a ceiling that has remained largely unchanged since the 1970s. The Potomac Woods Membership Plan is not insurance and cannot be combined with insurance; it is a discount membership program offered directly through our practice. See full terms at enrollment.

Common Questions

Is membership right for you?

Is this the same as dental insurance?

No. Our Membership Plan is not insurance — it's a discount membership program offered directly through Potomac Woods Family Dental Care. There are no claims, no networks, and no annual dollar maximum on your discount. It cannot be combined with dental insurance.

What's the difference between Essential and Preferred?

Both tiers include the same preventive care — 2 cleanings, 2 exams, routine X-rays, and 1 emergency exam a year. Essential is built for straightforward, mostly preventive care and includes 15% off restorative treatment & SRP. Preferred costs a little more but includes 20% off, plus your exclusive Preferred Member card — a better fit if you or a family member anticipates bigger treatment (a filling, crown, or deep cleaning) this year.

What if I already reached my insurance maximum this year?

That's exactly the situation membership is built for. Once you're enrolled, you get 15% or 20% off restorative treatment and SRP (depending on tier) with no waiting period and no annual cap — so needed treatment doesn't have to wait for a new plan year.

Can I use membership for my whole family?

Yes — and it's built for families. You can enroll every family member — children 13 and under, adults 14+, and anyone who needs a perio maintenance plan — each on whichever tier fits them, and each family pays just one $50 enrollment fee total, whether you're enrolling 1 person or 10.

Are there any exclusions?

Membership discounts apply only at Potomac Woods Family Dental Care and require an active membership. Orthodontic and specialty referrals are excluded unless otherwise stated. Full terms are provided at enrollment.
